Anthony Blight is a Royal Australian Navy veteran, father of a son and three daughters, Melbourne business owner and senior operational leader with more than 30 years of experience across Defence, infrastructure, engineering, transport and energy.

Anthony served for 13 years in the Royal Australian Navy, reaching the rank of Leading Seaman Marine Technician. His naval service shaped a philosophy he has carried throughout his life: look after your people, understand the job, make the decision and accept responsibility for the outcome.

After leaving the Navy, Anthony built a career in some of Australia’s most demanding operational environments, holding senior leadership roles on major Australian and international projects and operational portfolios valued at more than $1 billion.

Since purchasing G&R Maintenance in 2012, Anthony has experienced first-hand what it takes to run a small business, employ Australians, meet payroll, manage regulation and keep an operation viable.

“I’ve spent my working life in environments where, if something goes wrong, you don’t get to issue a press release and walk away. You find out what happened, take responsibility and fix it.”

Anthony is also closely connected to Melbourne’s veteran community and has advocated for veterans, good governance, accountability and the preservation of community institutions.

He believes Sandringham deserves a representative who listens to people, speaks plainly and understands that government decisions have real consequences for families, businesses and communities.
