ABOUT US
Guy Cooper is a lifelong member of the Sunraysia community.
Raised in a single-parent household, Guy understands firsthand the challenges faced by families working to establish financial security. He worked night shifts in a fruit factory while putting himself through university and has since built a career as an Agribusiness Banking Relationship Manager.
Guy is proud to have purchased his own home at a young age and provided a stable home for himself and his mother after more than a decade of moving between rentals. His experience has shaped his view that home ownership should remain within reach of Australians that are prepared to work hard and save.
Guy believes Sunraysia is an exceptional place to live, but is concerned about the capacity of local health services to meet the region’s needs.
“We are incredibly tough in regional Victoria, but we shouldn’t have to tough it out with an inadequate hospital.”
Guy supports investment into a new hospital that has the capacity to meet current demand while providing for the future growth of this region. He believes One Nation can cut wasteful Government spending and focus on priorities that matter to Victorians.
Guy is also concerned about increasing crime and its impact on residents and local businesses. He has seen businesses face repeated break-ins, leaving them to clean up and pay for damages. Guy supports tough consequences for those breaking the law, adequate police resources and sentencing in line with community expectations.
Guy is concerned about Victorians’ standard of living, Government spending and the increasing cost of doing business due to red and green tape. One Nation supports cost-of-living relief and prioritising affordable electricity generation from coal-fired power plants.
Guy believes renewables have a role in the energy mix but should stand without taxpayer funding. With a degree in finance, Guy understands that Government debt created today will ultimately be left for future generations to pay.
