Herbert is the candidate for Bentleigh, bringing more than 40 years of policing, leadership and community experience, grounded in honesty, integrity, accountability and ethical leadership.

Born and raised in Bentleigh, Herb knows the community and the values that matter to local families having raised three children locally with his wife.

Their children attended local schools and were actively involved through local football and golf clubs, giving the family a strong connection to the people and community of the area.

Herb is now a proud grandfather of three.

He began his policing career as a cadet at 17 years of age and served for more than 40 years at locations including Russell Street, Traralgon, Oakleigh, Dandenong, Brighton, Water Police and St Kilda Traffic Operations Group. He later moved into management at a major local police station while continuing an operational role.

His service has been recognised with a Victoria Police commendation and various service medals. His career has given Herb strong experience in legislation, risk management, budgeting, accountability and sound decision-making. He has also worked with councils and the community to improve road safety and infrastructure.

Herb has enormous respect for emergency services and understands the risks they face every day. He recognises community concerns about crime and police station opening hours. He believes emergency services need the resources, support and powers to keep our communities safe.

Herb is focused on issues affecting everyday life: cost of living, crime, energy and utility costs, infrastructure and pressures on families and businesses. He believes government must deliver reliable services and spend taxpayers’ money wisely.

For Herb, standing for Bentleigh is about continuing a lifetime of service, listening to the community, standing by his principles and putting local families and businesses first.
