Jamie’s family journey in Melbourne began in Carlton. When the area where his grandparents lived was demolished to make way for new commission flats, they moved to Broadmeadows. It was there that Jamie was born to his very young, loving mother in the late 1960s. As a young boy he moved to Melbourne’s leafy eastern suburbs and considers himself lucky to have grown up in Burwood, attending Hartwell Primary and Camberwell High. He bought a house with his wife in Box Hill, where they put down roots and raised their three children.

Jamie has worked in the building industry for more than three decades. He is the owner of a family-owned registered building company. He holds both a Science degree and an Arts degree and has spent his working life in the practical realities of small business.

“I know how deeply the cost-of-living crisis hurts ordinary families and small businesses,” Jamie says. “Everything is so expensive. A trip to the supermarket has become a traumatic event, and the major parties aren’t providing real solutions or even speaking to us honestly about it.”

As a father and a local business owner, Jamie has watched the unforgivable deterioration in community safety.

“Before Labor was elected, home security for most Victorians was pretty low-key. Now security cameras, alarms and gates are the norm. A bump in the night used to mean a possum on the fence - now it’s the fear of a machete-wielding home invader.”

Education outcomes for our children have declined and the politicisation of our schools has increased.

“Education of our children is of enormous importance to the people of Box Hill,” he says. “We want our children to excel, to be supported and to be successful.” One Nation will return our schools’ educational focus to reading, writing, arithmetic and discipline.

Jamie is standing for Box Hill because he believes our politicians have failed us, they lack the principles and conviction needed to get our state back on track.
