Mahdi is a husband, father, railway engineer and a small business owner.

With more than 23 years of rail industry experience, he brings technical expertise, practical knowledge and a deep commitment to Australia to his candidacy.

Born in Iran, Mahdi arrived in Australia as a skilled migrant in 2013, initially settling in Adelaide. He moved to Melbourne with his wife and son in 2015. Melbourne’s eastern suburbs have been home ever since. Here, he has built a new life from the ground up, continued his professional career and formed strong connections across the community.

With a degree in Railway Engineering, Mahdi specialises in strategic transport planning and rail network operations. His career includes work with V/Line, Metro Trains Melbourne and major rail projects across Victoria and interstate. This experience has given him a strong understanding of Victoria’s transport network and the importance of careful planning, efficient operations and informed investment.

As a small business owner, Mahdi is passionate about growing local production and making the most of Australian skills and resources. His experiences as a professional, business owner, first-generation migrant and father, shape his approach to public service and his appreciation of the responsibilities that families and businesses carry, as well as challenges facing every day.

Australia gave Mahdi and his family the freedom and opportunity to rebuild their lives and pursue prosperity. Having witnessed the consequences of radical ideologies in his country of birth, he does not take Australia’s freedoms and security for granted.

For Mahdi, public service is a way to honour the country that has given his family a new future. As a proud Australian, he is committed to serving the people of Bulleen and contributing to a safer, stronger Victoria through practical experience, responsible leadership and dedication to the community, ensuring future generations can build lives of security, dignity and prosperity.
