ABOUT US
Mark Nicholson is One Nation's lead candidate for the Legislative Council in the Northern Metropolitan region.
Mark is a family man, a former lawyer, and the co-creator of the renowned Please Explain cartoon series. He is a proud Victorian who refuses to sit on the sidelines while his state is run into the ground.
As a criminal lawyer, he witnessed a justice system that protected offenders and abandoned victims. As a small business owner, he knows exactly how hard government makes it to grow, to employ, and to prosper. As a father, he is watching a state preparing to hand his daughter record debt, unsafe streets, and less opportunity than he was given.
"I will not let my daughter inherit a Victoria that's worse than the one I was gifted," he says. "I love this state. I hate that we've become the national punchline. I don't accept that decline is our destiny. I firmly believe we can fix it and save Victoria."
With his business partner Sebastian Peart, Mark built Stepmates Studios from a back shed into one of Australia's most prolific animation studios. Together they have produced more than a hundred episodes of Please Explain across four seasons and a feature film, garnering an audience of millions — the kind of reach the major parties can only dream about. Mark writes, produces, and voices every episode, drawing praise and fury from across the political establishment in equal measure. Each week he joins the National Cabinet panel on News24's The Kenny Report.
In the Legislative Council, Mark's priorities are restoring safety to Victoria's streets, ending the waste that has driven the state into crippling debt, and giving Victorians the honest government they deserve.
"Victorians have been screaming out for change for years," he says. "The problem was never their voice. It was that nobody in Spring Street was listening. I am listening. On November 28, I'll make sure Victorians are heard loud and clear."
Mark lives in Abbotsford with his wife, their young daughter, and his dog George. He is one of the brightest political creatives this country has produced, and an incomparable force in Australian politics.
The greatest compliment Mark has ever been paid came from Pauline Hanson, who told him she could “see the mongrel in him”. He intends to put that mongrel to work every day at Spring Street. Victoria has never needed it more.

Victoria doesn't have to accept decline. We can restore safe streets, affordable living and honest government, but only if we're prepared to challenge the political class that created this mess.
