Michael Piastrino is an award-winning businessman, internationally recognised hairdresser, boxing enthusiast and former political candidate whose life has been shaped by family, faith, hard work and community.

Born and raised in Melbourne with a proud Italian heritage, Michael was brought up with traditional values centred around family, loyalty, respect and a strong work ethic. His Christian faith has also remained an important part of his life. Raised attending church, Michael believes strongly in God, forgiveness and not judging people by their past.

Michael is the owner and creative director of an hair salon in Albert Park, which he established in 2007. Through determination and creativity, he built the salon into an award-winning Melbourne business. Michael has been credited with more than 140 national and international hairdressing awards and was named Australian Hair Fashion Awards Victorian Hairdresser of the Year in 2017 and 2022. His career has also taken him internationally, representing Australia and working alongside major professional hair brands.

Outside business, Michael has maintained a long-standing passion for boxing. He has been involved in the sport as a boxing promoter and has supported people within the boxing community, believing the discipline and resilience required in boxing can provide people with direction and purpose.
Despite his achievements in business, sport and public life, Michael considers family his greatest priority. As a devoted father and family man, he believes success is not simply measured by awards, business achievements or public recognition, but by the values you pass on to the next generation.
