ABOUT US
Neil Davison is running for One Nation in Victoria’s Eastern Region. Raised in Melbourne, Neil is a family man with two children and two granddaughters. Throughout his life, he has believed that hard work is the key to success. This idea of taking personal responsibility has guided him through thirty-five years of business and community work.
Neil has a Bachelor of Science from Monash University majoring in Chemistry and Climatology and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Melbourne.
A major influence on his life was volunteering for an aid project in a Philippines war zone. That experience taught him compassion and made him truly value how lucky Australia is. He believes we must keep working hard to protect our country's wealth and should not just expect things to be given to us.
Neil started his career in the corporate world at Fosters before moving into small business. Together with his brother, he built and ran eleven different businesses, including hotels and supermarkets. Over the years he has employed well over 700 people. Neil remembers when hard work was enough to succeed, but he feels that today's high taxes and too much red tape make it very difficult for small business owners to survive.
Small business owners frequently take on immense personal risk and dedicate exhaustive hours to their enterprises, yet Neil contends that current government measures are actively undermining them. To back these vital self-employed individuals, he advocates for One Nation’s initiative aimed at easing regulatory compliance and simplifying the tax code for small enterprises. As Neil puts it: “Business provides the tax base Australia needs to provide the essential services such as health, education and infrastructure. The aging population needs to be cared for. We should be encouraging business, not crushing it!”
