Restoring Transparency and Accountability in Victoria

Victoria’s democracy depends on transparency, accountability, and the proper scrutiny of those in power. Yet under the current state government, these principles have been steadily eroded. Decisions affecting millions of Victorians are increasingly made behind closed doors, with limited parliamentary oversight and little regard for public accountability.

Freedom of Information processes are slow, obstructed and often ineffective. Important documents are delayed, heavily redacted or withheld altogether. Oversight bodies are under-resourced, while ministers avoid responsibility for serious failures by hiding behind bureaucracy. This culture of secrecy undermines public trust and weakens democracy.

Emergency powers and executive decision-making have become normalised in Victoria. While extraordinary powers may be justified in genuine crises, they must never become permanent tools of convenience. When governments govern without proper scrutiny, Victorians lose their voice and their right to hold leaders to account.

One Nation Victoria believes that government works for the people — not the other way around.

Victorians deserve a government that is open, honest, and answerable to the people who elect it. Transparency is not optional in a democracy — it is essential. Without it, trust collapses and public confidence is lost.

One Nation Victoria will continue to stand up for democratic rights, accountable governments, and transparency in decision-making. We will not support unchecked power, secrecy, or the erosion of parliamentary democracy. Our commitment is clear: a government that answers to Victorians, not itself.

One people, One flag, One nation.
